PRIVACY POLICY
What we collect when you book a yard, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. Written to be read, not to be survived.

What this covers
This policy covers gatehog.com and the GateHog mobile app for iOS and Android. It explains what we collect when you browse yards, book a spot, or manage a booking, and what we do with it.
GateHog runs on the Flame Truck Parking platform, which operates the booking, payment and notification systems behind the site and app. Your account and booking records live there and are handled as described below.
What we collect
- Your account
- Your phone number, because that is how you sign in — we text you a one-time code rather than storing a password. If you add them, your name and email address.
- Your bookings
- Which yard, which spot size, the dates, the term, and the booking's status and history.
- Your vehicles
- What you tell us about the vehicle you're parking — plate number, type, make and model, and length. We need the length because it determines which spots you can actually fit in.
- Payments
- Card details go directly to Stripe and are entered in a form Stripe hosts. We never see or store a full card number. We keep what Stripe reports back: the last four digits, card brand, expiry, and whether a charge succeeded.
- Device and app data
- If you turn on notifications in the mobile app, we store a push token plus your device name, app version and OS version, so a booking alert reaches the right phone and we can tell an iOS problem from an Android one.
- Usage and technical data
- Pages you visit, what you click, approximate location from your IP address, and browser and device type. See the analytics section below, which is specific about what that includes.
Why we collect it
To take and hold your booking, get you through the gate, charge you the right amount, and reach you about a booking you actually have — a confirmation, a receipt, a renewal notice, or a problem at the yard.
To keep the yards secure. Gate access is logged per booking, which is the point of a coded gate: an entry can be tied to a booking if something goes wrong.
To fix and improve the product — finding the step in checkout where people get stuck, and the pages that are broken on a phone.
To meet legal and tax obligations, and to resolve disputes and chargebacks.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
Analytics, cookies and session recording
We use PostHog to understand how the site is used. Be aware that this includes session recording: a replay of your visit showing pages, scrolling and clicks. This is worth stating plainly rather than burying.
Text you type into form fields is masked before it leaves your browser and is not recorded — that covers your phone number, verification code, vehicle details and anything in the checkout form. Card fields are inside Stripe's own frame and were never ours to record.
Once you sign in, analytics events are associated with your account so we can follow a real booking problem across pages instead of guessing.
We may also use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. Both are optional and only run where configured.
None of this runs on local development machines. Blocking cookies or using an ad blocker will stop most of it, and the site is built to work normally when it is blocked.
How long we keep it
Account and booking records are kept while your account is open, and after it closes for as long as we need them for tax, accounting and legal obligations — a receipt has to survive longer than a booking does.
Gate access logs and yard camera footage are retained by the yard operator on their own schedule, and pulled on request for an incident or a claim.
Analytics data is kept on the retention schedule of the provider holding it.
Your choices
You can see and change your profile, vehicles, saved cards and bookings from your account at any time.
You can turn off push notifications in your device settings, and unsubscribe from non-essential email from any message. Transactional messages about a booking you hold — a confirmation, a receipt, a gate problem — will still reach you, because those are part of the service.
Ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion, and we will action it. Depending on where you live you may have a formal right to those things; we do not ask which state or country you are in before honoring the request.
Deleting an account does not delete records we are legally required to keep, such as payment and tax records.
How it is protected
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Sign-in tokens are held in the device keychain on mobile, and card details never touch our servers.
No system is perfect, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise. If you believe your account has been accessed by someone else, contact us and we will revoke its sessions.
Children
GateHog is for commercial vehicle parking and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in the product rather than left for you to notice.
Ask us anything about this
Want a copy of your data, a correction, or the whole lot deleted? Email us and say so — there is no form to find.
